Oil leakage analysis and preventive measures of reducer


1. Analysis of the cause of oil leakage of the reducer

(1) In the closed reduction box, each pair of gears meshes and the gears are immersed in oil to generate heat. With the long running time, the temperature in the reduction box gradually increases, the pressure in the box increases, and the lubricating oil in the box splashes on the inner wall of the reduction box. Under the action of the pressure in the box, the lubricating oil leaks along the sub-box surface or where the shaft extension is not tightly sealed.

(2) The unreasonable structure of the reducer causes oil leakage. If the designed reducer does not have a ventilation hood or the ventilation hood is too small, the reducer cannot achieve pressure equalization, which will also cause the pressure in the box to rise, resulting in oil leakage.

(3) The poor working environment of the reducer causes oil leakage. If the environment is dusty, the ventilation effect of the ventilation hood is poor, and pressure equalization cannot be achieved. High temperature and harmful media will cause the seals to age and oil leakage will occur.

(4) The assembly quality does not meet the requirements. When the cover of the reducer is repaired and installed, the joint surface is not well sealed, and oil leakage will also occur.

2. Measures to prevent oil leakage of reducer

(1) Pressure equalization. The oil leakage of the reducer is mainly caused by the increase in the pressure in the reducer case, so the reducer should be equipped with a corresponding ventilation hood to achieve equalization of the pressure inside and outside the box. The reducer of mining machinery and equipment is relatively large, and the ventilation hood should not be too small. A simple way to check the size of the ventilation hood is to open the upper cover of the ventilation hood, and after the reducer runs continuously at high speed for a few minutes, touch the ventilation hood with your hand and feel that the pressure difference is large, indicating that the ventilation hood is small, and the ventilation hood should be replaced to ensure equalizing pressure. For the reducer working in harsh environment, the ventilation effect of the ventilation hood should be checked frequently, and the problem should be cleaned up in time.

  (2) Diversion. When the reducer is running at high speed, because the gear is immersed in the oil pool, the oil belt will be splashed to the inner wall of the box during rotation. The oil splashed on the inner wall of the box should flow back to the oil pool as soon as possible, and the box and shaft head should not be sealed. Keep it in place to prevent the oil from leaching out gradually between the upper and lower casings and the shaft head. The oil return groove can be opened at the joint surface of the upper and lower casings of the reducer, an oil seal ring can be designed on the shaft head, or a semicircular groove can be glued on the upper casing at the shaft head, so that the oil splashed on the upper cover flows to the lower casing along both ends of the semicircular groove. so that the oil splashed on the box will not leak out.

(3) Plugging. Mainly, measures should be taken at the joint surface of the upper and lower boxes and the shaft head seal. For the reducer of mining machinery and equipment, due to the large size of the structure, the structure should not be complicated. The U-shaped frameless rubber oil seal can seal the shaft head. The sealant is often used with lacquer sheet and industrial paper to seal the joint of the upper and lower boxes. As long as it is carefully operated, it can be completely leak-proof. In addition, extreme pressure anti-leakage lubricants can also be used. This lubricant forms a metal compound film on the metal surface under high temperature conditions.

3. Conclusion

In order to ensure the life of the gear, lubricating oil is used. But it also brought the problem of oil leakage. The use of pressure equalization, diversion, and plugging can effectively solve the oil leakage of the reducer, ensure civilized production, and achieve better results.
